POLICEMEN and rescuers rushed to Pattaya’s Wong Amat beach early this morning (Nov. 22) after the body of a foreign man wearing gold jewellery washed ashore, TV Channel 7 said.
Mrs. Praew Phinyoying, 83, said at approximately 6 a.m. a fisherman told her that he found a dead body washed up by the waves around 30 metres away so she called the authorities.
When the police team reached the spot where the dead body was found in Soi Wong Amat Tower they saw some local people standing around watching so quickly cordoned off the area.
The deceased tourist was approximately 40-50 years old, 170-180 cm tall, was not wearing a shirt only black pants and had a high crew cut hairstyle and had been dead for approximately eight hours.
Further inspection showed that there was an iPhone 5 mobile phone in his pants pocket. He was also wearing a gold watch on his left wrist as well as a gold necklace and a gold ring on his left finger.
No identification papers were found on him and his body was taken to Bang Lamung Hospital for his relatives to take for a funeral.
None of the local people who regularly exercise on this beach had seen him before.
Police assume that he might have come to exercise on this beach and then a chronic illness suddenly flared up and killed him because there were no signs of assault. While there were abrasions on his feet and body these were likely caused by hitting rocks.
