Thaksin acquitted by Constitutional Court from rule-undermining charges

WITH THE HELP OF the Constitutional Court, de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra today (Nov. 22) survived a legal battle with alleged acts earlier perpetrated to undermine rule.

The Constitutional Court judges voted 7:2 to judge the billionaire power player and his largest ruling party not guilty of taking action which would otherwise ultimately lead to the alleged undermining of rule with the monarch as head of state.

The de facto Pheu Thai boss/father of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra had been accused to no avail of manipulating to have the Ministry of Justice, the Department of Corrections and Police Hospital grant him privileges of staying for a six-month period at the hospital in spite of allegedly not being critically ill as publicly claimed.

Thaksin had been accused but acquitted by court of manipulating for the Pheu Thai and People’s to put forward constitution amendment bids with a veiled design to undermine rule whilst covertly giving orders to the Pheu Thai-led government to concede to Cambodia’s purported interests in a joint, undersea natural resources development project in the Gulf of Thailand despite Thailand’s maritime territorial integrity being put at stake.

Thaksin had also been acquitted of the charge lodged under the unsuccessful lawsuit that he had managed to turn his personal views into government policies formally delivered in parliament.

The Constitutional Court judges dropped the charge that Thaksin had manipulated the naming of head of government in place of former prime minister Srettha Thavisin at the de facto Pheu Thai boss’s house shortly after he had been deposed of power by court last August and waived the allegation that the billionaire power player had managed to kick the Palang Pracharath out of the current coalition government.
