ELEVEN bosses of The iCon Group detained at Bangkok Remand Prison refused to give any statements to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) team nor did they sign to acknowledge the investigation report, TV Channel 7 quoted sources as saying this afternoon (Nov. 21).
All 18 bosses of this direct sales company, including the founder Mr. Waranthaphon Wratyaworrakul, or Boss Paul, are being held in detention after investors complained to police that they had lost hundreds of thousands and up to millions of baht in investing in its business.
DSI police have also unearthed a money trail with 70 to 100 million baht being transferred from the account of the mother of a former politician whose name starts with S. to his own account. They also discovered that 500,000 baht was transferred from Boss Peter’s account, 2.5 million baht from Boss Paul’s account with there being another suspicious account from where large transfers of 5 to 10 million baht at a time were made.
Further investigation of the financial transactions is being carried out since this politician’s mother is elderly and is not working with the accounts of other bosses too being checked.
Meanwhile the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) urged victims of this case to file a petition asking for compensation at its website, http://www.amlo.go.th from Nov. 20, 2024 to Feb. 17, 2025.
Should DSI find additional assets they too be forward to the AMLO to distribute to the victims after the public prosecutors file a lawsuit and the case is concluded.
