PATTAYA police seized more than 10 motorcycles that foreign youths had zoomed into Soi VC to noisily race up down this alley to the annoyance of the local residents, Naewna newspaper said.
At 4.50 p.m. a team of police officers set up checkpoints at the two ends of this alley to round up the racers.
Around 50 of the foreign motorbike racers soon rode into the alley but some of them managed to escape upon seeing the police.
Even so the police team managed to arrest the others and upon checking their documents found that they had mostly rented these motorcycles with modified exhaust pipes that make them even noisier and thus disturb the people living along this alley.
More than 10 motorcycles were seized and taken to the police station with the owners expected to show up tomorrow to pay a fine and take them back.
The foreign bikers, who are mostly 18- to 25-year-old youths, tried to bribe the policemen by offering 2,000 to 3,000 baht to get the motorcycles released but the policemen refused to accept it.
They were told to come to the police station together with the motorcycle owners tomorrow and pay the fine as set by the law.
