61 adolescents caught breaking curfew for beach party

SIXTY-ONE adolescents were rounded up on a beach in Songkhla for allegedly breaking curfew and partying with alcoholic beverages last night (August 4), police said.

The 61 adolescents, 30 of whom aged under 18 years, were arrested on charges of violating the communicable disease and emergency rules with the boisterous birthday party on the beach during curfew hours in Nathap subdistrict of Chana district of the southern province.

Songkhla is one of the 29 ”dark red” provinces under curfew currently imposed between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. whereas the gathering of five or more people, either with or without alcoholic beverages, is banned under the sustained pandemic situation.

Those found to have violated the rules are subject to a maximum of 40,000 baht in fine or a maximum of two years in jail or both.
