PM sets new vaccination goal: 300,000 jabs a day

 

WITH the upswing in the number of coronavirus cases in recent days, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said in a Facebook post today (April 26) that the most urgent and important task right now is to sharply increasing the vaccination of the people in this country with the goal being to inject 300,000 or more doses a day, or 10 to 15 million a month, Thai Rath newspaper said.

In the post published at 12.45 p.m. Gen Prayut also mentioned that he is moving to set up alternative vaccination centres to reduce hospitals’ workload.

“This morning I held talks with a team of consultants on speeding up vaccine distribution, with this being the most important issue, and taking real action with the following goals,” he wrote.

– Push to increase vaccination in everyway with the goal of injecting 10-15 million doses a month from the variety available today;

– Restructuring by clearly organising groups and dividing the work between public and private sectors. Thoroughly distribute vaccines with the frontline being pushed to proactively vaccinate the public to relieve the burden on hospitals and public health centres.

– Arrange alternative vaccination centres by using suitable places such as convention and sports centres and hotels to reduce the workload at hospitals and public health centres whose main task is to take care of patients.

– Achieve the goal of injecting 300,000 or more doses a day and reach the target of vaccinating 50 million people by the end of this year or sooner.
