THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said at 11.30 a.m. today (April 22) that seven coronavirus patients died over the past 24 hours, the highest single day total since the start of the global pandemic, with there being 1,470 new cases, Amarin TV said.
The seven new fatalities raised the death toll to 117 while the new batch of cases pushed up the cumulative confirmed total to 48,113.
Altogether 477 patients were discharged from hospital over the past day, adding up to 29,848 who have been cured so far, while 18,148 are still hospitalised.
All of today’s cases were domestic with 1,370 emerging in the service systems while proactive search in communities found 100 more.
CCSA also revealed vaccination figures as follows:
– 141,670 more people received their first Covid jab, adding up to 746,617 who have done so;
– 10,560 more people were given their second Covid jab, taking the total to 118,223 who have got the second dose.
The latest global coronavirus statistics show that as of 10 a.m. this morning 144,454,214 people have been infected while 122,640,518 have been cured but 3,071,791 have died.
