NEW clusters of coronavirus cases have been found among those who visited entertainment venues and restaurants in Pinklao area of Bangkok and they are among a total of 108 people who have contracted this deadly disease in the capital so far in the current outbreak, Thai Rath newspaper reported this afternoon (Dec. 29, 2020).
Dr. Wichaya Pawan, director of the Institute of Prevention and Control of Urban Disease, said there were initial reports of a new cluster of 13 cases linked to pubs and karaoke lounges in the Pinklao area.
Moreover a cluster of 22 cases linked to a spreader from Nonthaburi has been detected. He said he went to three restaurants with these being: Zab Isan karaoke restaurant in Thewet area, Isan Krong Kaew restaurant in Pinklao area and Nong Mai Plaza in Pinklao area.
The Public Health Ministry and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration urged those who went to this area during Dec. 15-20 to observe their symptoms for 14 day and if they suspect that they are sick they should immediately contact a doctor.
Aside from these two clusters, Bangkok’s 108 coronavirus cases in this new outbreak can be divided into three groups as follows:
– A total of 70 patients were found connected to the central shrimp market in Samut Sakhon province with 27 emerging in Bang Khun Thian district, seven in Nong Khaem and five in Bang Khae. All these districts adjoin Samut Sakhon;
– Seven workers, one Thai and six from Myanmar, got infected at a shoe factory on Rama 2 road, Bang Khun Thian district. This factory employs 400 workers and all have been tested;
– One patient is linked to the big bike party at Koh Lanta island, Krabi province.
