ANOTHER 27 people in Rayong province have contracted Covid-19 taking the total number of cases arising from visiting gambling dens to 36, Sanook.com reported late afternoon today (Dec. 26).
Rayong’s Governor Mr. Channa Iamsaeng, said these patients tried to conceal their movements but officials found out that the transmission arose from gambling dens.
The governor added that he is considering locking down Rayong city.
Meanwhile Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, director-general of the Disease Control Department, said of the 10,411 samples collected in Samut Sakhon province from where this new coronavirus outbreak started 1,337 people were found to be infected, or 12.8% of the total tested.
The infection has spread from Samut Sakhon to 33 provinces, most of them in the surrounding Central region area not far from this coastal province.
He also urged gamblers who had got infected in Rayong to tell the truth to the authorities so that that they could control the situation.
In another development, the six civil servants and state officials at the Government House who yesterday got a positive result for Covid-19 infection in the initial test have been found not to have caught the deadly disease through the more accurate SWAB test, Thai Rath newspaper reported.
Staff at this government complex where the Prime Minister’s Secretariat is located were busy disinfecting the whole compound today.
