DE FACTO Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob has virtually maintained his camp so much in “blue” power and so effectively taken grips of government apparatuses plus “independent” agencies that he would ultimately have nobody in political circles to fear, according to a noted academic.
Newin, largely known to direct and command the Bhumjaithai, core of the current coalition government, albeit in surreptitious, behind-the-scenes fashion, would undoubtedly have nothing or nobody to fear because his largest ruling camp have been invariably given “blue” power in relation to their ultra-conservative political ideologies and have already secured significant government apparatuses as well as those “independent” agencies such as the Election Commission and National Anti-Corruption Commission, among others, according to Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University rector Adisorn Naowanondha.
Many of the current commissioners of those “independent” agencies have been picked by an overwhelming majority of senators known to be practically supportive and loyal to Newin’s “blue” party.
Adisorn made his comments on occasion of Thai Liberal leader/MP Seripisut Temiyavej’s third visit to Newin’s turf of influence in the long-disputed Khao Kradong area of Buriram today.
“Newin would not be seriously worried by Seripisut’s solo antagonism against him though he would rather be annoyed with it.
“Newin looks so confident of his blue party’s potential that he would ultimately have nobody in political circles to fear,” Adisorn said.
Notably, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul who concurrently acts as interior minister and leader of the Bhumjaithai is quietly, ultimately responsive to the de facto party boss who is also known as “manager of government” orchestrating the post-election setup of the Bhumjaithai-led coalition and allocating cabinet portfolios among coalition partners and among prominent members of his party’s rank and file.
Seripisut has continued to mount pressure on an eviction of all illegal occupants of the lower-northeastern land previously acquired via legal loopholes by Newin and 900-plus local villagers and an eventual transfer of the valuable real estate to the State Railways of Thailand.
The de facto Bhumjaithai boss has built Chang International Circuit for motor races and Chang Arena stadium for soccer games in the premises of the disputed lower-northeastern land which locates his residence and his party’s largest stronghold.
