A SECOND incident involving young children occurred today (Aug. 7) with a car crashing into a child development centre in Kanchanaburi’s Mueang district injuring 13 sleeping tots after a secondary school male student went on a shooting spree at his school in Nonthaburi leaving seven dead including himself and 15 others injured, Amarin TV and Naewna newspaper said.
Kanchanaburi emergency personnel rushed the injured children to the hospital with initial investigation suggesting that the driver may have fainted thus crashing into the building.
Earlier the eight grade male student, 14, of Thepsirin Nonthaburi School opened fire on fellow students and teachers on the 6th floor of the school’s building number 5 then took his own life.
The Nonthaburi Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office confirmed that 15 people were injured, 2 critically, and seven fatalities including three teachers, three students, and the perpetrator.
Police checking the student’s residence in Soi Wat Lat Pladuk revealed two more fatalities, believed to be his grandparents.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause and motive for the attack and gathering evidence to determine the facts.
