THE THIRD phase of a large-scale crackdown on nominee networks in Phuket, Krabi, and Phang Nga provinces was launched today (June 20) with police helped by multiple agencies in stamping out illegal activities, PPTVHD36 said.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Nophasin Phoolsawat, commander attached to the Office of the Commissioner General of Police, presided over the launching ceremony at Phuket City police station with representatives from local administration and related agencies participating.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Nophasin said this operation is in line with the government’s policy and the Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s directive assigning the police to coordinate with relevant agencies in suppressing the use of Thai nationals to hold assets or conduct business on behalf of foreigners, that is nominees, in violation of the law.
A special task force has been set up to investigate and expand the scope of the operation in collaboration with Land, Business Development, and Employment departments plus local agencies.
In this the third phase of the operation covering Phuket, Krabi, and Phang Nga provinces police have obtained arrest warrants for suspects after searching various locations to gather evidence.
The investigation focuses on the use of fraudulent shareholder structures or the establishment of companies to disguise foreign ownership of land or business activities using Thai nationals as nominees. Any evidence of nominee arrangements or violations of relevant laws will be prosecuted decisively.
The Thai police is committed to continuing investigation and enforcing the law to ensure fair business practices, protect national interests, and maintain confidence in the economy and investment in the Andaman coastal region of southern Thailand.
