Pawut will be undefended if found involved in forex scams: Pukkamon

PEOPLE’S MP Pawut Pongwithayapanu will definitely be undefended by the opposition party and be no exception to the law if he is ever found evidently involved in foreign exchange scams on which the authorities have been cracking down, the People’s spokesperson Pukkamon Nunarnan confirmed today (June 18).

Pukkamon made her comments in regard to the forex scams allegedly involving the People’s MP in question and others a day before the Bhumjaithai-attached Justice Minister Rutthapon Naowarat and Department of Special Investigation officials are scheduled to give a press conference on the issue tomorrow (June 19).

The People’s spokesperson assured that the party will take an unambiguous stand on the criminal issue and make it known to the public and will certainly by no means look to defend her fellow lawmaker if ever found guilty as charged.

She categorically dismissed speculation that the largest opposition party would probably turn blind eye and deaf ear if Pawut was evidently found involved in any forex racket among dozens of suspected scammers and that her fellow lawmaker will certainly not be defended from law by anyone among the party’s rank and file.

About 57 unidentified persons and 20 unidentified firms have been reportedly suspected of involvement in such illegal businesses and had their respective assets foreclosed by the DSI which had raided 24 locations allegedly used by those forex scammers in varied parts of the country. Those suspects allegedly included politicians and celebrities among others.

However, Pawut who has been critical of the contentious TH-AI Passport project pushed by de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob’s son/Digital Economy & Society Minister Chaichanok Chidchob was reportedly absent from today’s weekly legislative meetings at parliament.
