AN ARREST warrant has been issued for a Myanmar man charged with brutally murdering and dismembering his girlfriend, whose body parts were found stuffed in a plastic box at an apartment in Bangkok and has now fled to his home country, Amarin TV said today (June 13).
Pol. Col. Sakya Saengwan, deputy commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, said after reviewing video clips from a CCTV at the apartment building in Soi Ratchaprarop 14, Makkasan subdistrict, Ratchathewi district, and interviewing eyewitnesses that it appears Mr. Aung Pye, the boyfriend of the murdered woman who had rented this flat, had brutally killed her and fled the country in a van arranged by a broker on the Myanmar side of the border.
The suspect worked at a restaurant as a chef while his girlfriend was a waitress at a different restaurant with a video clip showing him pick up his girlfriend at 2.30 a.m. on June 5.
On June 8 neighbours heard the two of them quarrelling with a video clip showing him later carrying a basin covered with a towel which he emptied into a trash can in front of the building then taking the empty basin back inside.
A third video clip shows him dashing out of the apartment building carrying a handbag and a mobile phone on the night of June 10, TV Channel 8 said.
The van driver had also told the police that he picked up the suspect in front of the apartment building at 8.33 p.m. on June 10 and drove him to Mae Sot district, Tak province, arriving there at 6 a.m.
It is believed that the suspect then crossed over to Myanmar via a natural border crossing as there is no record of him passing through any immigration checkpoints.
