Thai troops urgently placing containers at Sa Kaeo border

THAI soldiers from Burapha Task Force are urgently placing containers at a former Cambodian refugee camp in Ban Nong Chan village, Sa Kaeo province, to reinforce border security and use them as support points for security missions and operations in the area, PPTVHD36 said today (Jan. 1).

The goal is to strengthen control and enhance monitoring plus ensure timely response as the situation at the Thai-Cambodian border remains uncertain. They will also serve as rest areas for units stationed there.

Meanwhile Khmer troops have begun collecting the bodies of fallen soldiers along the frontline but selectively so with only troops from senior leader Hun Sen’s elite and heavily armed Bodyguard Headquarters (BHQ) security unit being transported while those of local militia neglected, a post at the Army Military Force said.

“The bodies of local militia members, or ‘village soldiers,’ were neglected and left to their fate,” the post said.
