DE FACTO PHEU THAI BOSS Thaksin Shinawatra and de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob would have likely patched up their differences and now looking to building up mutual harmony between their coalition partners, commented a noted academic today (Oct. 9).
Suriyasai Katasila, dean of Rangsit University’s College of Leadership & Social Innovation, posted on his Facebook page to say Thaksin and Newin would have already buried the hatchet and begun to foster working relationship between the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai, currently being the largest and second largest ruling parties respectively, given a rare private talk which they held with each other at the former’s residence on Sunday.
Relationship between the de facto Pheu Thai boss and de facto Bhumjaithai boss had previously turned sour after Newin had sent a poignant, reminiscent message to say “it’s over, boss” to Thaksin who had fled the country in self-exile in 2008.
Suriyasai remarked that the de facto Pheu Thai boss’s planned agenda ranging from the construction of a mega-billion southern land bridge project, the launch of major entertainment complexes in major tourist provinces and a 99-year lease of condo units to foreigners to the long-awaited amendment to the coup junta-designed constitution would bear fruit, given the purported working unity between their coalition partners.
Suriyasai said the de facto Bhumjaithai boss has practically secured more bargaining power in dealing with the billionaire power player and father of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra since Newin was believed to keep as many as 150 senators under his command, albeit in behind-the-scenes fashion.
However, the Rangsit academic did not rule out the possibility that the elected premiership might change hands from the de facto Pheu Thai boss’s daughter to Newin’s protege Anutin Charnvirakul who concurrently performs as Bhumjaithai leader/deputy prime minister-cum-interior minister at any given time.
