Successful artist explains his mesmerising collection of paintings

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

WITH the exquisite collection of his paintings on show at Supples Gallery, Charoen Krung Soi 43, since late last month having turned into a success, Thai-born-Indian artist Asoke Aryapratheep explains what inspired him in his creative work in the video below.

Happy that visitors are coming to view his collection, entitled “Suggestions”, on which he worked so hard and that he has been able to sell some of his paintings, Asoke describes his collection and what motivated to steadily reach his goal.

This series challenges the notion that art is purely a visual experience, proposing instead that it is also a mental one where each interpretation becomes an integral part of the artwork itself.

He has employed a diverse array of mediums – brushes, pens, inks, and unconventional tools like rolling paper – to craft complex textures and layers. These elements coalesce into abstract forms that hint at familiar scenes yet remain deliberately open to interpretation.

Asoke, 76, who studied Fine Art at Carlisle College of Art and Nottingham College of Art, has held numerous exhibitions in Bangkok, New Delhi and Berlin over the years.

This exhibition is on show at this gallery till Nov. 10, 2024.
