Despite being blasted, Chuwit insists Thaksin not returning on Aug. 10

FORMER MP and graft-buster Chuwit Kamolvisit reconfirmed today (July 29) that former prime minister/de facto Pheu Thai Party boss Thaksin Shinawatra will not be returning to Thailand on August 10 despite his daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra saying this is just a delirious projection,TV Channel 7 said.

Chuwit had late last night posted a message on his Facebook page saying “The game has flipped, Thaksin has retreated, cancels return to Thailand, the situation has changed,” with this prompting Paetongtarn to say this morning that he was just delirious.

However Chuwit later said he was not angry at Paetongtarn who wants her father to return to Thailand and he also would like to do so but she might not know all the conditions put up.

Certainly on August 10 it will be revealed which one is delirious, he added.

Chuwit also said he is certain a new prime minister will not emerge on Aug. 4 when the next House/Senate meeting takes place to vote for one.

As for Thaksin’s return to Thailand, this is believed to have been postponed indefinitely until a green light is given for the deal struck in Hong Kong, he said, without elaborating on who has to give approval.

The former MP maintained that his information is not fake news but the political game does change all the time. As of today, Thaksin is definitely not returning but if the green light is given the situation has to be reassessed again.

In his opinion, Thaksin’s return would have to be through a special channel and not that Corrections Department officials show up at the airport with court papers to pick him up.

Thaksin is waiting for an Individual Royal Pardon. The cases against the person applying for this type of pardon have to have ended and he/she must have confessed to the charges. Those convicted of kidnapping, hijacking, robbery and corruption have never been granted this type of pardon, he said.

As for Progressive Movement chairman Thanathorn  Juangroongruangkit holding talks with Thaksin in Hong Kong, Chuwit said Thanathorn proposed that the Move Forward Party would vote in support of Pheu Thai from the opposition benches provided the two uncles (Palang Pracharath leader Prawit Wongsuwan and caretaker prime minister/ de facto leader of Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party Prayut Chan-o-cha) are left out but Thaksin turned down the offer because it puts his planned return home at risk.
