Indian woman strips to prove she didn’t steal money

AN Indian woman accused of stealing 3,000 baht at a motorcycle repair shop in Udon Thani stripped in front of the policemen  to prove that she did not take it, Amarin TV said today (Oct. 8).

Pol. Lt. Sathaporn Sawatdee, deputy chief of Investigation at Udon Thani city police station, led a team to the repair shop next to Wat Wiwek Burapha Chai upon being alerted of an argument over an alleged theft.

At the shop they found Ms. Aziza (surname withheld), or Ae, 23, an Indian national, and Mr. Thanabodin fiercely arguing with the latter accusing the former of stealing 3,000 baht from his bag while the former hotly denied it.

To prove her innocence Aziza took off her clothes in front of the policemen so that they could search her for the missing money. When she started taking off her underwear the shocked policemen and other people who had gathered there told her to stop with Thanabodin’s wife then told to search her in the shop’s bathroom.

Thanabodin later said he had brought his motorcycle with a sidecar to this shop for repair, and to help the mechanic with the task he put his yellow cloth bag on a swing.

While they were repairing his motorcycle Aziza brought her bicycle to change a tyre. She first sat outside the shop but later came in and sat on the swing atop Thanabodin’s bag.

He quickly retrieved it because he had put some money in it but upon opening the bag found that 3,000 baht was missing.

“When I opened the bag, I found that three 1,000 baht notes were missing, there were only some hundred and twenty baht notes left. I thought that this woman had definitely stolen my money and when I asked her she yelled that she didn’t take it, so I called the police,” Thanabodin said.
