A THAI AirAsia X airplane heading from Osaka/Kansai, Japan, to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok yesterday (May 24) had to return to the Japanese airport twice after the landing gear could not be retracted, Amarin TV quoted the website Sankei as saying with the incident also reported on Aviation-safety.net.
The flight, XJ613, with 350 passengers onboard, initially took off from Kansai at 10 a.m. However it returned to this airport landing at 12.52 p.m. after the pilot was unable to raise the landing gear.
After maintenance the airplane again took off but upon developing the same problem again landed back at this airport at 7.08 p.m.
There were no reports of injuries among the 350 passengers.
Later World Walker – Japan Travel said the television channel Kansai TV (Fuji) had reported that this airplane was still parked at Osaka/Kansai airport with the flight scheduled for today cancelled.
