A FORMER policeman drove up to a child care centre in Nong Bua Lamphu province in a pickup truck this afternoon (Oct. 6) and opened fire at both adults and children there killing 32, Sanook.com said.
National police chief Pol. Gen. Damrongsak Kittiprapas quickly flew to the upper northeastern province to oversee the hunt for the shooter, identified as Panya Khamrab, a former police officer who was discharged from government service, while Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha too has been informed.
The children at this centre were taking their afternoon nap when the shooter burst in and started firing randomly.
In escaping in his white four-door Vigo pickup truck with registration plate number 6 Kor Thor 6499 he continued shooting intermittently.
The public is urged to look out for this vehicle and if they spot it to call police hotline 191.
