THE CONSTITUTIONAL Court’s panel of judges passed a majority verdict allowing former Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat’s status as a Member of Parliament to remain intact as no grounds were found that his holding just 00.0035% shares in non-operating ITV channel violated election regulations, Naewna newspaper said.
The Election Commission had filed an MP-disqualifying lawsuit on a charge that Pita’s holding of the tiny fragment of the non-operating channel’s shares violated regulations.
If he had been found to have applied to run as an MP while holding shares in a media business, even though ITV stopped broadcasting a long time ago, he could have lost his MP status.
Once the verdict was read out, MPs from Move Forward Party and Pita’s supporters cheered and happily congratulated him on now being able to return to the House of Representatives after the court had ordered him to stop performing MP duties on July 19, 2023.
