MOVE FORWARD Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat will be attending a campaign rally in Rayong this evening (Aug. 13) to officially introduce his party’s candidate contesting the upcoming by-election in this eastern coastal province’s constituency 3, Sanook.com said.
The party’s secretary-general Mr. Chaitawat Tulathon said his camp is fielding Mr. Phongsathorn Sornphetnarin, or Yo, in the race to fill this parliamentary seat previously occupied by a party MP.
Mr. Nakhornchai Khunnarong resigned as an elected lawmaker in addition to an already-served jail term due to a convicted crime which he perpetrated 24 years earlier.
Nakhonchai admitted that he had been sentenced to one and a half years in prison on a theft charge in 1999 but said he had not suspected that a crime committed over two decades ago could have prohibited him from contesting the May 14 election in this eastern constituency.
Phongsathorn’s team had already started campaigning, visiting more than nine communities in Klaeng district.
He said there was good feedback with a lot of people coming to shake hands and encourage his party while also commenting on the current political situation.
This evening’s campaign rally at Khlong Thom market, Klaeng district, is starting at 5 p.m. and aside from Pita other executives attending it including Chaitawat, party-list MP Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn plus all Move Forward Rayong MPs.
