MOVE Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat was admitted to hospital for influenza today (Aug. 2) but has been informed of Pheu Thai Party’s decision to withdraw from the eight-party coalition and dump his party, Sanook.com said.
Mr. Chaitawat Tulathon, Move Forward’s secretary-general, said Pita is in good spirits but the flu has led to him losing his voice thus he briefed him of the outcome with the meeting with Pheu Thai Party at Thai Summit building via online chat.
Pita did not express any opinion about Pheu Thai’s decision but said Move Forward could not ask Pheu Thai for anything and is ready to work fully in any role.
Chaitawat also mentioned that Pheu Thai never once asked Move Forward to reconsider its campaign policy to amend the draconian lese majeste law, better known as Section 112.
However almost all parties Pheu Thai talked to on forming a coalition government said they would not join if Move Forward was also involved regardless of whether the issue of amending Section 112 remains or not.
He added that Pheu Thai did not ask Move Forward to vote for their prime minister candidate Srettha Thavisin on Friday Aug. 4 because that is a privilege of each party.
In conversations this morning some Pheu Thai leaders even expressed concern that if Move Forward voted for Srettha it would lead to the senators distrusting Pheu Thai as they would fear that as soon as the prime minister vote is over Pheu Thai would pull Move Forward back into the fold.
