Policeman who killed relatives, wife and son wants to surrender

 

RELATIVES of a policeman who killed his father-in-law and two other relatives, his wife and son earlier this month told Surat Thani Governor Wichawut Jinto today (Apr. 16) that he wants to surrender as he does not want to fight fellow policemen, Naewna newspaper said.

The relatives also said that he threw his firearms into Phum Duang canal in Khiri Rat Nikhom district and 50 policemen and divers had been mobilised to find them.

On Saturday April 8 Pol.Snr.Sgt.Maj.Attaporn Wichienwere, 46, accompanied by his brother Mr. Thammarat Wichien, 48, and  Mr. Manop Wang-ngarn, killed his father-in-law Mr. Thammarong Nilniyom, or Phoo Yai Rong, 60, a former village headman and owner of the plantation house in Bang Ngon subdistrict, Phunphin district, his wife Mrs. Nilthip Palakachen, or Taeng, 49, his brother Mr. Pornsak Petchchu, or Phoo Yai Kraw, 56, also a former village headman.

Thammarat was killed in the shootout at the house while Manop was later arrested in Phang Nga province.

Attaporn later killed Mr. Atthaphon Wichien, or Bass, 25, his son by his first wife, and his second wife Ms Panida Nilniyom, or Tak, who is Thammarong’s daughter by his first wife.

At 8 a.m. this morning a team of policemen supported by scuba divers from Charosattha Surat Thani Foundation went to search for the weapons in the canal in front of Wat Intrawas, about 10-15 km away from the crime scene.

However they had to suspend the search because of strong currents after the Provincial Electricity Authority started releasing water.

Police then contacted the agency to stop the flow of water with the search to resume at noon or 1 p.m. today.
