PAETONGTARN SHINAWATRA, daughter of de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra, has remained the most popular contestant for prime minister after the May 14 general election, according to results of a second round of the NIDA Poll released today (Apr.16).

The second round of the NIDA Poll, conducted earlier this month among a total of 2,000 people from all walks of life nationwide, has found 35.70% of the respondents preferring Paetongtarn for prime minister, followed by 20.25% who has picked Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat and 13.60% who has opted for caretaker prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha who is running under the Ruam Thai Sang Chart tickets.

According to the latest NIDA Poll, only 6.05% of the respondents has selected Settha Taweesin, a Pheu Thai running mate alongside Paetongtarn, 4.15% has opted for Thai Sang Thai leader Sudarat Keyurapan and 3.45% has picked Thai Liberal leader Seripisut Temiyavej for head of a post-election government.

Other partisan candidates for prime minister have been given a relatively few percentage of popularity, according to the NIDA Poll.

Meanwhile, an average of 47% of the respondents has been found still preferring to vote for Pheu Thai candidates running in both constituency-based and party-listed modes, followed by an average of 21% who has opted for Move Forward contestants in both electoral modes and an average of 11% who has picked Ruam Thai Sang Chart contenders whilst those vying under the banners of other contesting parties have been given a relatively few percentage of popularity, according to the poll.
