A KYRGYZ woman died after falling from the top floor of a luxury hotel in Pattaya this afternoon (Sept. 16) with a German man who had helped her saying she had been lured into prostitution by a Chinese gang, TV Channel 7 said.
Pol. Lt. Col. Pitak Noensaeng, an inspector at Pattaya City police station, rushed to the seven-storey luxury hotel in Bang Lamung district where they found Ms. Anara (surname withheld), 30, from Kyrgyzstan, badly injured with a mobile phone with the screen smashed lying next to her.
Rescuers tried to revive her with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) because they were still able to feel her pulse but she soon died at the scene.
Before plunging to her death she had scattered around 10,000 baht in various currencies onto the ground.
Police then checked the room she had fallen from and found that it had been rented by Mr. Bechstein Hans Matthias, 58, a German national.
The shocked German man told police that he was holidaying in Thailand with two grandsons who are students. The deceased woman was a friend of his ex-girlfriend and had asked for his help after being lured into prostitution by a Chinese gang.
He gave her his own room to stay but at noon today hotel staff alerted him that she had fallen to her death.
Investigation revealed that the deceased woman had visited a doctor at a hospital in Bang Lamung area and had an appointment to see him again today but refused to go.
Police are still investigating the cause of her death with those concerned being questioned.
