POLICE will be asking the court to issue warrants for the arrest of three suspects in the death of a 37-year-old Russian woman who fell from a condo at Patong beach in Phuket on May 31, TV Channel 7 and Thai Rath newspaper said.
The unidentified Russian woman had plunged to her death from the eight-storey condominium at around 4.23 a.m. that day.
Pol. Col. Krisana Pattanacharoen, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, said investigators had sent her body for an autopsy at Vachira Phuket Hospital and had now received a preliminary report on the cause of death which supported the investigation.
They also questioned many eyewitnesses and gathered important evidence with a lot of progress having been made.
This has led to police being able to work out the circumstances of the Russian woman’s death and pinpoint the suspects and tomorrow they will be asking the court to issue warrants for the arrest of three of them, two men and one woman, for further legal action.
He added that forensic evidence was an important part in investigating this case with investigators having not ruled out any motives.
National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Suwat Chaengyodsuk had urged the officers in all departments involved in this case to collect evidence and investigate it quickly, honestly and with prudence.
They were also told to mainly rely on forensic evidence to build confidence among local people and tourists and prevent any confusion or disinformation with everyone urged to follow the news from the government only.
