SIX SPLINTER PARTIES have jumped onto the Pheu Thai bandwagon to combinedly make a 236 MPs-strong coalition government so far whilst a few others are largely expected to follow sooner than later, partisan sources said.
Five of the six splinter parties, namely the Prachachart, the Pheu Thai Ruam Palang, the Thai Liberal, the Palang Sungkhom Mai and the Thai Counties, will officially confirm to join the Pheu Thai-led coalition government in a press conference tomorrow (Aug.9) and the other, namely the Chart Thai Pattana, will follow on Thursday.
The Chart Thai Pattana has 10 MPs, the Prachachart has nine MPs and the Pheu Thai Ruam Palang has two MPs whilst the Thai Liberal, the Palang Sungkhom Mai and the Thai Counties have one MP each.
Altogether, the Pheu Thai-led coalition now has 236 MPs on its side, including 141 Pheu Thai MPs and 71 Bhumjaithai MPs, and is yet needing many more to make a decisive majority in the House of Representatives.
Speculated to jump onto the Pheu Thai bandwagon at a later date are either 40 Palang Pracharath MPs or 36 Ruam Thai Sang Chart MPs.
Nevertheless, Palang Pracharath leader Prawit “Uncle Pom” Wongsuwan, who concurrently is an MP, and de facto Ruam Thai Sang Chart boss/caretaker prime minister Prayut “Uncle Tu” Chan-o-cha will definitely be nowhere in a Pheu Thai-led cabinet of ministers.
