Russian arrested in Koh Samui drug party raid

KOH SAMUI police last night (Sept. 1) arrested a Russian man at a villa where a party was under way and drugs were to be sold to the foreigners attending it, TV Channel 7 and Naewna newspaper said this morning.

Surat Thani Immigration police joined Bo Phut police in raiding the villa rented by the suspect Mr. Constantine (surname withheld), 47, where eight varieties of drugs were found that they said he was getting ready to sell to the party-goers.

Seized were five bags of  crystal methamphetamine (Ice) weighing 12.77 grammes; 22 bags of cocaine weighing 182.66 grammes; 11 bags of Ketamine weighing 19.81 grammes; 11 bags of methamphetamine weighing 31.23 grammes; nine sachets of powdered Mephedrone (MD) weighing 62.92 grammes; 16 MD tablets; 50 ecstasy tablets; and 10 cocaine tablets. 

Pol. Lt. Col. Pingkarat Saikwan, deputy superintendent of Surat Thani Immigration Office, said the suspect had thrown many parties in violation of the provincial coronavirus measures so the team mounted the raid.

He added that the suspect admitted to having thrown many such parties and was going to do so again next week with drugs sold to mainly foreign tourists.

The suspect had also told police that he bought the drugs from a Russian friend in Thailand.

Pol. Lt. Col. Pingkarat also said that the suspect had come to Thailand four years ago and had opened a motorcycle rental shop on Koh Samui as a cover to sell drugs to foreigners.
