THAILAND logged 14,956 new coronavirus cases today (Sept. 2), slightly higher than yesterday’s count of 14,802 cases, while there were 262 deaths, up from 252 yesterday, Siam Rath newspaper said.
Consistent with the rest of the country the number of cases in Bangkok have also dropped but the total is still high reaching 3,322 today, with the capital city continuing to be the worst affected zone in the country.
Samut Prakan came next with 1,220 cases followed by Chonburi with 881 and Samut Sakhon 733,
The province with the least number of cases today is Phayao with only six patients emerging.
None of Thailand’s 77 provinces is free of infection with 40 reporting over a hundred new cases today and the highest number being in the central region followed by the South, Northeast, East and West while cases in the northern provinces only reached double digits.
Of today’s 14,956 cases, 14,600 were among the general public and 356 in prisons and detention centres.
This takes the cumulative confirmed total from April to 1,205,624 with 17,936 more patients discharged today taking total recoveries since April to 1,031,278.
Today’s 262 fatalities took the death toll from April to 12,009.
