Samut Prakan badly flooded after heavy rain

TORRENTIAL rainfall in several districts of Bangkok and Samut Prakan from 10 a.m. onwards today (July 28) led to several areas of the latter already badly flooded, Matichon newspaper.

Hit with pouring rain were Don Mueang, Lak Si, Chatuchak, Dusit, Phaya Thai, inner Phra Nakhon, Din Daeng, Huai Khwang, Lat Phrao, Bang Kapi, Bueng Kum and Ratchathewi districts.

Areas in Samut Prakan now flooded include Sukhumvit road from Pu Chao Intersection onwards and under the Bang Phli-Suksawat Expressway, with the floodwater reaching the footpath level on both sides.

Also flooded were Thepharak road From Si Dan intersection to Samrong Nuea intersection and Srinakharin road from Si Dan intersection inbound to Sikharin intersection.

The Thai Meteorological Department said southerly and the southeasterly winds are now prevailing over the Gulf, Thailand and the Andaman Sea. The country will be hit by thunderstorms with isolated heavy showers likely in Bangkok and neighbouring provinces, the East and the South.

From noon today till noon tomorrow there will be scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain in Bangkok and its vicinity. Minimum temperature is in the range of 25-28 °C. while maximum temperature is around 34-36 °C. Southerly wind is at 10-20 km/hr.

Its seven-day forecast warns that there will be more scattered thunderstorms in the Bangkok zone during July 29-August 3 with southerly wind at 0-20 Km/hr.
