THERE is a lively mood in Pattaya as pubs and bars in this seaside city start cleaning their premises and equipment for reopening till midnight from June 1 onwards as permitted by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, Naewna newspaper said this evening (May 28).
The Covid administration had on May 20 allowed entertainment venues in 17 blue and 14 green provinces to reopen till midnight.
A key condition for the reopening is for customers, employees, musicians and singers being fully vaccinated including a booster shot and undertaking antigen test every week or when at risk.
Mr. Surachai Anatta, the manager of Differ Pub Pattaya, said his establishment is ready to reopen on June 1 with this relaxation likely to lead to more tourists flocking to both Pattaya and nearby areas as the former is a colourful world-class tourist city.
Initially most of the tourists will likely be Thai but more foreigners will come when the country further opens up leading to Pattaya again becoming vivacious.
Mrs. Amporn Kaewsang, manager of Stones House on Walking Street, said her live music pub is ready to reopen on June 1 while also agreeing that initially most of the tourists will be Thai.
However she mentioned that there are foreign tourists too particular from India with many of them currently holidaying in Pattaya.
While thanking the authorities for allowing entertainment venues to remain open till midnight, she also urged that they further extend the opening hours which is vital for their business.
