THE HUNT for an elderly German woman said to be suffering from Alzheimer’s and missing in Phuket since May 9 intensified this morning (May 15) with an army helicopter and a national park boat joining the search, Amarin TV said.
Twenty policemen are searching for Ms. Barbara Elisabeth Monika Glag Lange, 76, on foot at the headland facing Koh Pling in the southern end of Nai Yang beach while the Third Army region has sent a helicopter to fly over Nai Yang, Nai Thon and Layan beaches.
At the same time Sirinat National Park officials dispatched a boat with four crew members to scour the sea from Nai Thon to Layan beach.
Meanwhile Pol. Col. Kanchawit Phoprasit, chief of Sa Khu police station, posted a message on the station’s Facebook page offering a reward out of his own salary to anyone reporting clues to the whereabouts of the missing German woman. Those with information can contact this police station all 24 hours at 076-328121 or his personal line 085-1514559.
Clips from surveillance cameras at Maikhao Palm Beach Resort where she was staying with her relatives showed that at 8 a.m. on May 9 she stepped out and started walking along the beach towards the airport.
At 9 a.m. she walked past the resort but did not come in, instead continuing on the Nai Yang beach road heading for Ao Por Cape.
It was revealed that this is the second time this tourist disappeared with the first time being on May 5 when Phuket Tourist Police were able to track her down in Ao Por area and brought her back to the hotel by 8 p.m.
Shopkeepers and local residents at Ao Por had said she spoke to them after that she walked past a restaurant at the headland and entered a hotel nearby through the rear door. She spoke to this hotel’s staff and then left by the front entrance and turned right heading towards a deserted house,
