Former soldier wanted for gold shop robbery

POLICE are hunting for a former soldier in the robbery of a gold shop in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) province with over 4.5 million baht worth of gold chains taken in the 20-second raid on Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 12), Sanook.com said today (Apr. 14).

Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Court approved an arrest warrant for Mr. Kittipong (surname withheld), or Bess or Frank, 28, in this solo robbery of Yaowarat Krungthep gold shop located on the first floor of Lotus hypermarket.

Surveillance camera clip shows that a tall slim man wearing a black striped shirt, black pants with his face covered with a black balaclava barged into the gold shop and used a pistol to intimidate the employees before jumping across the counter.

He then grabbed a tray with 51 gold chains, weighing three baht each and totalling 153 baht worth over 4.5 million baht, and dashed out with the robbery lasting only 20 seconds.

He then hopped on a motorcycle without a licence plate and rode to meet his wife at Baan Mai district before disappearing.

Police said the suspect had a criminal record having been arrested together with a companion in possession of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and meth pills in Bangkok in 2016.
