THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced late this morning (May 1) that there were 1,891 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, up from 1,583 yesterday, but fatalities rose to 21 from 15 yesterday, Siam Rath newspaper said.
This takes the cumulative confirmed total to 67,044 while the death toll now stands at 224.
Most of the new batch of cases were domestic with only seven overseas arrivals being quarantined. The local cases were divided into two groups with 1,799 emerging in service systems and 85 found through proactive search in communities.
Another 1,821 patients were cured, adding up to 38,075 who have been discharged from hospital, with 28,745 still undergoing treatment. Altogether 20,775 are in various hospitals and 7,979 in field hospitals with 829 in serious condition and 270 requiring ventilators.
Meanwhile Bangkok Metropolitan Administration revealed 25 dangerous places where it is easy to catch Covid with the data updated yesterday.
