Elderly Brition dies of coronavirus in Hua Hin

AMONG the three Covid-19 fatalities reported in Prachuap Khiri Khan province today (April 30) is a 92-year-old Briton who died the same day he was admitted to hospital, TV Channel 7 said.

Dr. Suriya Kuharat, the provincial health doctor, said there were 11 new coronavirus cases in his province today, adding up to 1,075 people who got infected in the current Covid wave sweeping the country. Altogether 658 patients have been cured while 414 are undergoing treatment, with 16 in severe condition and 21 in moderate state.

The elderly Briton, who lived in Hua Hin and had a heart condition, died in a hospital at this seaside city on April 26. He was unconscious with no pulse detected upon arrival and medical staff used breathing apparatus to revive him with an X-ray showing a lung infection. However he died the same day at 5.17 p.m.

His relatives told the disease investigation team that he had close contact with other relatives who had come from risky areas.

Meanwhile the Army Non-Commissioned Officer School Hua Hin tested 397 students who started the new academic year with none found to be infected. This action was taken because the students came from various different areas of the country. They have also inspected and made sure all the facilities in the school are hygienic. Another batch of 397 students is scheduled to come in on May 12-13 to start their studies.
