Police ready for rallies at department store, military unit

POLICE confirmed they are fully ready to supervise the gatherings by the People’s Party today (Nov. 29) at three possible areas mentioned in news reports. Thai Rath newspaper reported.

Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Pol. Maj. Gen Piya Tawichai said one of the locations is Imperial Department Store Ladprao.

Of the other two, the first intended location was the 1st Infantry Regiment, the 1st Infantry Battalion, King’s Close Bodyguard on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road but this later was moved to 11st Infantry Regiment, King’s Close Bodyguard in Bang Khen.

Measures to maintain safety in all potential rally areas are in place and barricades have been put up to prevent trespassing into important places. Crowd control equipment is also ready for use in accordance with the Royal Thai Police strategy, he said.

Police are not worried about the third hand moving in to trigger violence because they are constantly following developments, he added.

In the key military areas military personnel will provide another layer of reinforcement.
