Dad takes action against 5 female students for assaulting, humiliating his daughter

AFTER a 13-year-old female student was assaulted by five schoolmates and forced to strip with the video widely shared online, her father today (Jan. 31) filed a police report against them, PPTVHD36 said.

The father, Mr. Surasak (pseudonym), 49, a resident of Tha Sae district, Chumphon province, brought his 13-year-old daughter, Nong A (pseudonym), a first-year secondary school student, to file a complaint against the five female students and also submitted the video of her humiliation as evidence.

Police said there are three charges stemming from this case: physical assault, indecent acts and violating the Computer Crime Act.

Surasak told police that his daughter was beaten up and forced to strip on Jan. 24 after she was invited by her assailants to settle a personal dispute over a man. However they ganged up against her and as she was alone she was not able to defend herself.

Initially, the school and the parents of these five schoolgirls asked him to not pursue the case out of consideration of the school’s reputation and their future, and he agreed to their request on condition that the video not be disseminated.

However the video was subsequently posted online and has gone viral.

“I watched it and my heart is broken. The video doesn’t just show the beating; my daughter was forced to undress in front of the camera. It’s a complete humiliation. This time, I won’t compromise, I will pursue legal action to the fullest extent,”  Surasak said.

Meanwhile, Pol. Col. Chalad Polnakarn, superintendent of Tha Sae police station, revealed that upon learning of the incident, he immediately dispatched investigators to the scene and helped the victim in filing a police report. She has also been sent for a medical examination at a hospital, and a multidisciplinary team is being set up to interview both the victim and the perpetrators as they are minors.

Chumphon Governor Mr. Thianchai Chookittivibul urgently ordered the Provincial Education Office to investigate the facts and immediately report on progress of this case, in order to implement measures to prevent violence in educational institutions and cyberbullying, which is currently escalating.
