MOVE Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat said today (Aug. 27) that he both encouraged the Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s cabinet to do well while eager to see Pheu Thai Party fulfil their campaign promises to the people, Thai Rath newspaper said.
Speaking during a visit to Wat Phraya Suren School, Khlong Sam Wa, Bangkok, Pita mentioned that he is concerned about many issues particularly policies that his party wants to implement including decentralisation of power, addressing wealth inequality and reforming the military.
He pointed out that Pheu Thai candidates too had said while campaigning that they support reforming the military if their party comes to power and should any legislation on this major change be introduced Move Forward would fully back it.
Asked whether mandatory conscription in the military would actually end as Gen. Natthapon Nakpanich might become the defence minister, Pita replied that the new government should be given a chance to have a look at implementing this change, which is what the people want as they are eager to see the armed forces modernised.
