A MAN who was seen in a surveillance camera footage throwing a chunk of concrete from a footbridge in Bangna area and hitting a sedan below was arrested this evening (May 2) on the charges of attempted murder, Naewna newspaper said
The suspect was only identified as Mr. Chalat, 45, with Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, deputy chief of Metropolitan Police Bureau, going to interrogate him himself.
The incident occurred last Tuesday (Apr. 29) at 5.36 p.m. at the entrance of Bangna-Trad Soi 46. The suspect was seen in the video clip wearing a face mask and carrying a bag as he walked up the footbridge and then removing the concrete piece and throwing it down, smashing the left corner of the sedan’s windshield. He then fled the scene.
That same morning two chunks of concrete fell from a flyover on Rama II road and smashed the windshield of an engineer’s pickup truck rupturing his liver and leading to his death a short while later with this being the latest incident of debris falling and killing people on this road
Bangna police said the unidentified victim was driving on the inbound side of Bangna-Trad road and when he reached this point a big piece of cement suddenly fell and hit the front left windshield of the vehicle, damaging it. He immediately notified the insurance company and later a representative from this company took him to file a complaint at this station.
