ALL those working or visiting the Labour Ministry, in Din Daeng district, the Din Daeng Social Security Building and the Criminal Court on Ratchadapisek road were urgently told to evacuate this morning (March 31) with this likely due to the huge earthquake in Mandalay, Myanmar, last Friday which also jolted the whole Thailand, Naewna newspaper.
This followed earlier closure of Ratchaburi Direkrit Building or Government Complex Building A in Lak Si district. This building houses justice related agencies with a security guard there saying that the side where the Central Bankruptcy Court is located had tilted. A loud crack was heard after which cement fragments fell.
Other agencies located in this building include the Constitutional Court, Don Mueang Provincial Court, Department of Probation, Department of Enforcement and Department of Special Investigation (DSI).
A Facebook page mentioned this morning that a video clip of the State Audit Building which collapsed in Bangkok during Friday’s massive earthquake has been completely deleted on Chinese social media, Amarin TV said,
The Facebook page, “Luijin Luijeen”, said this clip has disappeared from all key Chinese social media platforms including Weibo, Douyin, and Rednote.
The post said, “And since the incident the name of the Chinese company that invested in this building has not appeared in any hashtag. Oh wow.”
Thai netizens flocked to comment with some saying, “very friendly,” “deleting won’t help you forget”, “If it were in China, this company would definitely be dead”, and “From the first business card in Thailand it has become the first funeral card.”
Meanwhile, the Office of the Auditor General (SAO) offered condolences to the families of those who died in the collapse of the 30-storey highrise building while confirming that the construction was strictly in accordance with the law, taking into account stability, strength and earthquake resistance with no structural adjustment made, Sanook.com said.
This project was approved by the Cabinet on February 4, 2020 with a budget set at 2.56 billion baht. Forum Architects Co., Ltd. and Meinhardt (Thailand) Co., Ltd. were the building designers while the ITD-CREC joint venture (Italian-Thai Development Plc and Chinese Railway Number 10 Engineering Group Company) was the contractor for the construction with a budget of 2.136 billion baht.
