People’s MP questions polling agency about ‘anonymous petition’ to dissolve Pheu Thai

PEOPLE’S Party MP Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn asked the Election Commission to clarify if an anonymous petition is among the batch that has led to  an investigation of de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra for allegedly illicitly dominating and steering the largest ruling party, albeit in behind-the-scenes fashion, because if so this is a dangerous issue, Naewna newspaper said this evening (Oct. 19).

Election Commission Secretary-General Sawaeng Boonmee will likely set up an ad hoc committee which will be initially given a 30-day time to investigate and find out the truth behind Thaksin’s alleged power play in the face of varied petitions earlier filed against the billionaire power player on charges of having unduly dominated and directed the Pheu Thai despite his being legally considered an “outsider” as well as illicitly influenced several leading figures of the Bhumjaithai, Palang Pracharath, Ruam Thai Sang Chart, Chart Thai Pattana and Prachachart.

Wiroj warned that if just an anonymous petition, colloquially called poison pen letter, has prompted this investigation then this would be a dangerous move by a dark and mysterious power.

An anonymous petition has no identity and if one is used to launch the investigation against Thaksin it could lead to such anonymous petitions cropping up all over the country, he said.

Referring to singers being involved in The Icon Group case, Wiroj said undertaking an investigation over a poison pen letter lowers the standard even further.

Asked by reporters that as the dissolution of Move Forward Party, which has now reborn as People’s Party, has been called a turbocharged  expressway drive, what would one call possible dissolution of Pheu Thai on the basis of a batch of petitions with one being anonymous, Wiroj replied that an expressway might not be used every time.

He warned that backstabbing might take place to pressure and negotiate instead of letting the parties elected by the people work.

“There are singers and angels behind the curtain, they have brought up various mechanisms to pressure the executive branch and not allow it to work.

“If this is the way then we no longer have to answer to the people, let’s just answer to the angels who use singers to destroy people’s power.” he said.

Wiroj added that there are many angels now and not just in the pyramid scheme but in politics too and if independent agencies listen to the angels behind the curtain and intimidate and coerce the legislative and executive branches into submission then would this be democracy or should the name be changed to angels democracy.
