A 3.48 TRILLION BAHT budget for fiscal 2024 will be submitted for cabinet approval next week, a government official said today (Nov.15).
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin is scheduled to chair next Tuesday’s cabinet meeting to pass the 2024 budget bill prepared by the Budget Bureau and then forward it to parliament, according to the official attached to Government House.
The 3.48 trillion baht budget accounts for a 9.3% increase amounting to 295 billion baht from that for fiscal 2023 whilst a total of 2.78 trillion baht in state revenue is expected throughout fiscal 2024, thus incurring a sum of 693 billion baht in budget deficit.
The country’s economic growth is projected to rise in a range of 2.7 and 3.7% whilst inflation is anticipated in a range of 1.3 and 2.3% and an average Thai national is calculated to earn 271,712 baht throughout next year.
The 2024 budget does by no means include a 500 billion baht total which the Pheu Thai-led government has planned to hand out to some 50 million Thais under the much-heralded, yet contentious digital wallet project.
