SOME insurgents set off an explosion at Global House in Pattani’s Mueang district at 7 p.m. this evening (Aug. 29) and the authorities said initially there were no injuries, according to PPTVHD36.
The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 Forward Command said the insurgents rode up on a motorcycle fitted with a sidecar and loaded with various items. They parked inside Global House then used firearms to order all employees to leave the premises before fleeing the scene.
Subsequently, three explosions occurred within Global House. An inspection revealed that the abandoned sidecar motorcycle appeared to have been turned into a bomb.
Relevant agencies are currently inspecting the scene and the vehicle, implementing security procedures, collecting evidence, and assessing the damage to proceed with legal action.
The public was urged to avoid travelling near the site of the explosion and surrounding areas unless absolutely necessary and to strictly follow official instructions due to the potential danger from unexploded ordnance.
Last weekend 75 violent incidents occurred in Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla provinces. Eleven persons, six men and five women, were injured and 17 buildings plus 40 vehicles damaged.
This was followed by an arson attack on a convenience store in Pattani on Monday (Aug. 24) but fortunately there were no injuries.
