DEPUTY National Police Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Surachate Hakparn, nicknamed Big Joke, said after inspecting the house of Highway Police Division 2 superintendent where he was found shot dead today (Sep. 11) that he was stressed out after being interrogated over the murder of his subordinate at a party in a former village headman’s house last week, Sanook.com said.
A friend of Pol. Col. Wachira Yaowthaisong who is also a police superintendent came to check on him at his house in Khu Khot area of Pathum Thani after being unable to contact him for several hours and found him dead there.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Surachat said Pol. Col. Wachira had got stressed and became absentminded after being interrogated about the murder of Pol. Maj. Siwakorn Saibua during a party at the house of former village headman Mr. Praween Chanklai, or Kamnan Nok, 34, in Nakhon Pathom last Wednesday night (Sep. 6).
Praween’s subordinate, Mr. Thananchai Manmak, or Nong Thapha, 45, had fled after the shooting but was tracked down in Kanchanaburi where he was shot dead in an exchange of gunfire with police.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Surachat added that Pol. Col. Wachira’s house has been sealed off and entry by those uninvolved with the investigation strictly prohibited as forensic officials and doctors are working there.
However his death does not affect the investigation of Pol. Maj. Siwakorn’s murder as investigators had already got all the information from the deceased policeman.
Regarding other policemen involved in this case no special precaution has to be taken as it is the duty of the chief of each police unit to take care of their team, he added.
