THE BHUMJAITHAI has finally been given back a highly tempting portfolio, namely the Ministry of Transport.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha today (Mar.14) returned the top portfolio to the Bhumjaithai after it had been held by Deputy Transport Minister Athirat Ratanaset as acting transport minister for a few days.
Athirat of the Palang Pracharath was reportedly speeding up varied major projects of the Transport Ministry such as the highly contentious MRT Orange Line as the dissolution of the House of Representatives leading to a general election is imminent, thus prompting the second largest coalition partner to bring back their portfolio.
Bhumjaithai leader Anutin Charnvirakul who concurrently acts as deputy prime minister-cum-public health minister has been given the third cabinet seat as acting transport minister in place of Saksayam Chidchob, the Bhumjaithai secretary-general and brother of de facto party boss Newin Chidchob.
Saksayam has been earlier ordered by court to stop performing as transport minister pending a court ruling as to whether he may have held corporate shares via some nominees in Buri Charoen Construction Ltd.Part. which would be otherwise prohibited by law.
