KANOKWAN WILAWAN is banned from politics for life due to a national forest encroachment case.
The Supreme Court today (Feb.22) ruled Kanokwan guilty of having encroached upon a preserved area of Khao Yai national park in Nernhom subdistrict of Prachinburi since 2002. She used to represent the eastern province as Bhumjaithai MP.
The court ruled that such forest encroachment was a severe breach to ethics otherwise required of a politician or government official.
Kanokwan who had been suspended from performing as deputy education minister since last August pending today’s court ruling is finally banned from seeking re-election for MP or assuming any political position for the rest of her life.
In addition, she is prohibited as a constituent of Prachinburi from casting electoral votes at any level of politics for 10 years from now.
