THE MOVE FORWARD PARTY has been given most donations in cash from taxpayers’ refunds last year, says an official report.
According to the report issued today (Oct. 10) by the Fund for Development of Political Parties under care of the Election Commission, a total of 62,634 people who have paid personal income tax have donated a combined 27.5 million baht in cash from their tax refunds to the Move Forward Party, the second largest opposition party, led by Pita Limjaroenrat.
That compared to a total of 10,328 taxpayers who have provided a combined 3.43 million baht in cash from their tax refunds to the Democrat Party, the third largest coalition partner, led by Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanavisit, whilst a total of 8,090 taxpayers have contributed a combined 3.34 million baht in cash to the brand-new Kla Party, previously led by Korn Chatikavanij.
In the meantime, a total of 7,771 taxpayers have donated a combined 2.92 million baht in cash to the Pheu Thai Party, the largest opposition party, led by Chonlanan Srikaew, whilst another 4,062 taxpayers have provided a combined 1.29 million baht in cash to the Palang Pracharath Party, the largest coalition partner, led by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, and 593 others have contributed some 209,000 baht in cash to the Bhumjaithai Party, the second coalition partner, led by Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
A total of 104,584 people who have paid personal income tax last year have separately contributed from their tax refunds to the donations for some 80 parties including the major ones totaling 43.2 million baht, the report says.
