MOST PEOPLE would prefer the Bhumjaithai-led government grant them more spending money under the so-called Thais Help Thais Plus copay project, according to the latest King Prajadhipok Institute poll.
The KPI poll, conducted earlier this month among a total of 2,000 people in varied parts of the country, has found 56% of the respondents say they would prefer the government give the Thais Help Thais Plus copay project’s recipients an increased sum of spending money by a ratio of 60:40 with the former paying the larger portion.
Meanwhile, 13% of the respondents would prefer the government extend the copay project to any low-income earners other than an estimated 39 millions who are currently enjoying it whilst 5% suggests the government manage to get more food shops, grocery stores and services to join the four-month-long copay project which is being implemented nationwide until the end of September,
Each recipient is entitled to a maximum of 1,000 baht in spending money monthly, albeit with a maximum of 200 baht to spend out of the government-granted portion daily.
Such a populist campaign of the Bhumjaithai-led government is being entirely funded by a 200 billion baht economic relief package roughly accounting for half the total borrowed funding scheme under a yet-questionable executive decree for which legislative approval has yet to be formally given in retroactive fashion at a later date.
